Discovery Studio is where learners step more confidently into ownership of their education—deepening skills, facing bigger challenges, and building the habits they’ll carry through life. Here, curiosity is sharpened, independence is expected, and growth is measured not just by what’s learned but by how learners lead.
In Discovery Studio, our goal is to nurture a deep love of learning, while also developing the life skills that matter most: clear communication, kindness, and accountability in relationships with others. Learners don’t just focus on academics—they practice listening, speaking with confidence, and working through challenges together.
As they grow, they’re not only mastering core subjects but also learning how to relate to others with respect and empathy, building friendships rooted in encouragement and honesty. The Discovery Studio is about preparing young people to thrive both intellectually and socially, equipping them with the habits of curiosity, collaboration, and character that will serve them for life.
Discovery Studio is ideal for children who:
Are ready to take more responsibility over what they learn and how they learn it
Want to deepen skills through challenge, rather than just complete tasks
Enjoy applying their learning in hands-on, project-based Quests and collaborative challenges
Are growing in focus, curiosity, and emotional maturity—and want to stretch further
Are eager to learn how to set goals, manage their time, and build resilience when faced with challenges, seeing setbacks as opportunities to grow rather than reasons to stop
In Discovery Studio, the week is built around rhythm and variety: mornings mix Core Skills, Socratic Launches, and learning games; mid-week brings in Writer’s Workshop and Quests; afternoons stretch into collaboration, leadership, and choice. The structure gives learners space to deepen academic mastery while developing self-management—switching between independent work, peer support, and group challenges.

Learners are invited into projects, challenges, and games that spark curiosity and stretch their thinking. Every choice is designed to be engaging while still holding them accountable to high standards.
They plan their work and set SMART goals, learning how to break big objectives into manageable steps, track progress, and follow through. These habits help them build independence, confidence, and the resilience to keep going when things get tough.
They master core skills at their own pace, moving forward only when they’ve demonstrated true understanding. Progress isn’t about racing ahead but about building a strong foundation they can carry forward.
They embrace struggle as part of the process, seeing mistakes, peer collaboration, and reflection as essential steps toward growth.
And they lead and reflect together—through peer reviews, Town Hall meetings, and group discussions, they take ownership of their studio culture and learn to articulate not just what they’ve achieved but who they are becoming.
Inviting Challenges & Projects – Learners are invited into Quests, workshops, and games that call for extended thinking, collaboration, and creativity. They choose how to engage, leaning into opportunities that stretch their skills and curiosity.
Peer Leadership & Accountability – Instead of being managed by adults, learners take responsibility for themselves and one another. They mentor peers, solve problems collaboratively, and uphold community standards through shared accountability.
Integrated Growth – Academic mastery, character development, and real-world skills aren’t separate tracks—they’re woven together. A math problem might lead to teamwork, or a writing challenge might spark a debate about values. Every experience builds the whole person.
Flexible Learning Flow – With greater autonomy, learners structure their work, play with choices, and fluidly shift between independent study, guided activities, and collaborative challenges. The balance of freedom and responsibility empowers them to own their journey.
In most upper elementary classrooms, the day is tightly scheduled, every subject is delivered by a teacher at the front of the room, and learners move at the same pace—regardless of readiness, interest, or motivation. Progress is measured by grades and test scores, and projects often look the same because compliance takes priority over creativity.
Discovery Studio takes a radically different approach:
Leadership & Accountability – Every learner plays a part in shaping studio culture. From Town Hall discussions to peer feedback, learners mentor one another, hold each other accountable, and take responsibility for their community.
Mastery, Not Minimums – Instead of moving on with “just enough,” Discovery learners progress when they’ve demonstrated true understanding. This builds confidence, persistence, and pride in doing their best work.
Hands-On, Real-World Learning – Project-based Quests, collaborative challenges, and gamified Writer’s Workshops connect skills to real-life application. Learning isn’t abstract—it’s engaging, relevant, and fun.
Agency & Independence – With increasing autonomy, learners practice managing their time, setting goals, and building resilience when challenges arise. They’re not just told what to do—they learn how to decide what matters and follow through.
“This year has felt different in the best way. My child goes home excited about what they solved—not just what they completed. They’ve made friendships that help them think through ideas, argue ideas, and resolve conflict like kids half their age couldn’t. It’s imperfect and messy—but it’s powerful to see.”

Discovery Studio is your child’s chance to grow into someone who doesn’t just follow directions—but who asks great questions, leads peers, and builds work they’re proud of.
We accept Step Up Scholarships and offer a private scholarship fund to make the experience accessible for more families.
